EDIT: I'll probably just do a 302 swap into an FB RX7 for around $3k total...
We have a 2014 Honda Odyssee. The V6 in it is AWESOME. I just found out something even better though...
there is a company that makes J series engine conversion kits for MIATAS! The whole package is only *rolls eyes* $3500 and includes:
Subframe w/ mounts
Trans adapter for stock trans to J35
Custom oil pan
Flywheel adapter
Oil pickup and thermostat housing
Starter
Exhaust manifold and downpipe
and a clutch kit with a flywheel!
WOW
I calculated out the costs for a total conversion to be around $6k including odds and ends with the roller Miata costing around $1k.
The J35 is available from my local LKQ for $550 and an ECU for it would be around $1300 for an AEM series 2
What do you guys think of this?

An LS3 would probably be cheaper and better. And no timing belts.

Yea, if I was going to go to the trouble, I'd probably just stuff an LS in there.

What? An LS3 is freaking expensive! Then there is the transmission... over $1k alone right there

I can go to a junk yard and buy an LS with the transmission out of a Camaro for like $1000 probably.

THE LS3 ALONE IS LIKE $3K WTF
![]() 01/28/2015 at 20:34 |

That's not a fuckin LS3! The LS3 came with the New Gen Camaros...
I would get an LS1 out of a wrecked late model F body if I were to go V8

Eh, whatever, either one is better than an Accord engine. LS anything. LS everything.

Oh what about a 5.3 with heads/cam/intake?

a truck engine would work too, usually they're configured to be more torquey. Find a 6.0L out of a wrecked Escalde or something. Though the 4.8L can be built up to be a rev monster.

HEADS/CAM/INTAKE
THATS THE NAME OF THE GAME BRUH

Although... neighbor has a 351w block so... yeah you can see where this is going ;)

Cheapest way to an Aluminum LS engine is the LM4 out of "fast" early 2000s GM and Izuzu SUVs. 5.3L, all aluminum. Put a different cam in it along with an LS1 intake and oilpan and BAM ~350HP for cheap. They're more expensive than an iron truck LS engine but way cheaper than an LS1 or LS3

Or do a first gen RX7 with a SBF swap! Apparently the subframe can be moved so the engine mounts right up... or so I heard

You'd have probably 300 hp with a lot less weight than an LS1. Looks like decent idea to me

A V6 in a Miata?
But really there are multiple cheaper and more worthwhile choices:)

Or do an FB RX7 swap with a 302 Ford and a T5 for around $3.5k total...

I just found a way:
FB RX7 302 swap! Total? Around $3k!

That'll do
